Riverwalk

(Terri Roben)
Riverwalk by Terri Roben ©1991
Chorus:
We're going on a river walk,
We're walking near and far.
We're going on a river walk,
We'll leave behind the car.
We'll hike along the Mohawk River,
walk along it's shore -
The Mohawk-Hudson Riverwalk -
to learn and to explore.

1) What it's like for the river
and the habitats around it,
What it's like for the wildlife
and plants that surround it,
What it's like for the river -
The Mohawk-Hudson Riverwalk!

Chorus

2) What it's like for the river
having industries surround it,
What it's like having boats and barges
riding up & down it,
What it's like for the river
The Mohawk-Hudson Riverwalk!

Chorus

3) What it's like for the river
having locks and bridges cross it,
What it's like, it is cleaner now
than when we almost lost it,
What it's like for the river -
The Mohwalk-Hudson Riverwalk!

Chorus

No Such Thing As Away by Terri Roben ©1991
1) When you throw it away
do you know where away is?
You know it won't stay in the garbage can.
It could end up buried deep,
in the water it may seep
or end up lying on the pretty white sand.

Chorus:
Cause there's no away in the whole wild world;
No there's no such thing as away -
In the land, sea or sky, it could end up by
plants or creatures or where people work and play.

2) From the garbage-can it may go to a landfill
Or it may get burned up and pollute the sky
It could go out to the ocean on a garbage barge
Dumped into the water, making ocean life die.

Chorus

3) Almost everything we use can be used many times again
Lots of things we want that we never need
Even vegetables and bread scraps left over from dinner
Can be turned back into earth in which we plant seed.

Chorus

4) So if you're smart you'll start to figure out
what you really need
You won't buy stuff just because it's there
When you want to get rid of something, you'll try recycling it
Keep it from polluting and show that you care.

Chorus

5) So when you throw it away, do you know where away is
You know it won't stay in the garbage can
It could end up buried deep, in the water it may seep
Or end up lying on the pretty white sand.

Chorus

Recycle Your Trash by Terri Roben ©1990

1) Recycle, recycle, recycle your trash
Recycle you trash, recycle your trash
If you do you can turn it in from garbage to cash
You can turn it from garbage to cash.

2) Take all of those bottles and rinse them and then,
rinse them and then, rinse them and then;
Bring them back to the store and they'll use them again
Bring them back and they'll use them again.

3) And when you go to the store, bring your own bag with you,
bring your own bag with you, bring your own bag with you;
The trees will say "thanks!" and the sky will stay blue
The trees and sky will thank you!

4) Don't throw out those toys just because they are old,
just because they are old, just because they are old;
There are kids who will love them as if they were gold
They'll love them as if they were gold.

5) If something is broken, you could always try,
You could always try, you could always try;
To fix it before you just go out and buy
A new one, so give it a try!

6) And when you go on a picnic, use washable stuff,
use washable stuff, use washable stuff;
The garbage dump's closed, it's had garbage enough
so picnic with washable stuff!

7) And do you think that those peelings don't have any worth,
don't have any worth, don't have any worth?
If you compost them, you can make healthy new earth
You can make healthy new earth!

8) Repeat First Verse

The Corn Hop by Terri Roben ©1990
1) You gotta take it from the, take it from the,
take it from the top.
Shuck off all that stuff that makes it look like a mop,
Boil it and butter it and salt while it's hot,
Once you take the first bite,
well you know you can't stop

Chorus
Because it's corn, mm-mm, corn on the cob
Oh yeah, it's corn, mm-mm, corn on the cob

Delicious and tender, a summer mindbender,
Put it on your plate and you know it tastes great!

2) You gotta take it from the, take it from the,
take it from the top.
Better than a chocolate bar or lollipop
Roast it or steam it or let it go pop!
You just gotta love it, even when it's store-bought,

Chorus

Sunshine on a stick, a mouth-watering kick
Munch it left to right or turn it round with each bite.

3) You gotta take it from the, take it from the,
take it from the top.
Find a fruit and veggie stand and harvest that crop
Pick 'em in a garden or buy 'em at the shop
Shuch those ears and cook 'em
and then do the Corn Hop!

Chorus

Eat it while you can, it's only here now and then
It's an indian gift - it gave those pilgrims a lift!

You gotta take it from the, take it from the,
take it from the top - Do the Corn Hop!

1) Ice-skating is nice skating
But here's some advice about ice-skating:
Never skate where the ice is thin,
Thin ice will break and you'll fall right in
You'll fall right in and come up to your chin
When you skate where the ice is thin!

2) Swimming in water is nice but you oughter
Make sure there's a lifeguard when you swim in water,
Lifeguards will make sure that you won't drown.
Always swim with a lifeguard around
You'll swim and have fun in the water and sun
When you swim with a lifeguard around!

3) Bicycling is nice cycling but
Here's some advice about bicycling:
Always bike with a helmet on,
A helmet will help you if you fall down.
You're head won't get hurt if you fall in the dirt
When you bike with a helmet on!

Two Little Buddies by Terri Roben ©1990

1) Two little buddies swing on the swings
One is a butterfly with stained glass wings
One is a unicorn with sparkles in her hair
Having fun together, playing as a pair.

Chorus:
Of friends who make up stories, friends who can fight
Friends who share each other's toys just for the night
Friends who care about each other in a special way
Friends who know that they'll be friends, come what may.

2) Two little buddies running in the breeze
Playing that they're ponies underneath the trees
Sharing whispered secrets of fancy fairylands
Cooling off each other with Oriental fans.

Chorus

3) Two little buddies growing up so fast
Now in different neighborhoods, will their friendship last?
I'll tell you a secret, it's really true you'll see
Those two little buddies once were you and me!

Chorus

Seashells by Terri Roben ©1992

1) I love finding shells at the ocean
Slippershells, scallops and angelwings
Coquinas and jacknives and jingles
Dogwinkles and other fun things.

Chorus:
Seashells, seashells, seashells are some of my favorite things;
Seashells, seashells, seashells are some of my favorite things;

2) There's shark eyes and moon snails and blood arks
There's blue crabs and spider crabs too
There's thick-lipped drills and periwinkles
Plate limpets and mussels dark blue!

Chorus

3) A horseshoe crab's tickling my toesies
A wentletrap's just drifted in
A hermit crab's stolen a snail shell
The sunshine is burning my skin - ow!

Chorus

4) I love the big waves of the ocean
They carry the shells to the shore
But if you can't go to the ocean
Sometimes they sell shells in the store.
(Try saying that five times fast!)

Chorus

5) In summer we go to the seashore
We find lots of things to bring back
Our parents say, "Oh no, not more shells!"
And we go on filling our sacks!

Chorus
